The Neo Tropical Sunbeam Snakes… good for a pet?

Neo tropical Sunbeam snakes, also known as Xenopeltis unicolor, are non-venomous snakes native to Southeast Asia, particularly found in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

They are known for their iridescent, rainbow-like sheen on their scales, which gives them a striking appearance. These snakes are primarily nocturnal and spend much of their time burrowing underground or hiding beneath leaf litter.

Despite their stunning appearance, they are relatively rare in the pet trade and are not commonly kept as pets due to their specialized care requirements and limited availability. In their natural habitat, they primarily feed on small vertebrates like frogs, lizards, and rodents.

A beautiful snake, one of my favourites, but wouldn't recommend as a pet. Their environment will be extremely specific, and as they tend to spend most of their time burrowing and come out only in the darkest of night, they can be view d as a less attractive option compared to a more sociable snake.
